By Piping I mean the Scottish Great Highland Bagpipe....
I have been learning the pipes for nearly 2 years. During those 2 years I have probably only practiced 2 or 3 months, so needless to say, my progress is nowhere near where it should be. Never the less, I do enjoy playing them and am trying to get ready to compete in a few highland games this year.
I am on my second set of pipes. My first ones were a set of Dunbar P-3's. These were made of composite plastic which is fine for a beginner, but do not sound as good as wood. I am now playing a set of pipes my wife and I picked up on ebay for $200. We dont know what brand they are, and after recent inspection, believe them to be a nicer set of pakistani or cheap american pipes. I do not believe them to be African Blackwood because when I attempted to refinish the varnish on a section of them, a large amount of wood stain came up with the varnish. This leads me to believe that they are probably rosewood. Oh well.. they still look and sound nice. The bores are straight.. so all in all, still very much worth the asking price.
Here are some pictures of me and my pipes:
