Well now you have found me, so I might as well tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Christopher Ashley Pyle. I am the first of three children (the only male) of Joseph and Deborah Pyle. Although currently living in Pittsburgh, PA, I was born in Athens, GA and then quickly transplanted to Saraland, AL, much of my youth was in the company of good and decent southern folk (this is a matter of opinion as not all southern folk are neither good nor decent) who taught me about the little joy of life that make it all worthwhile.

A cool glass of sweet tea on a hot summer day, climbing trees, fishing, and building forts in the wood were definitely enjoyable activities when I was a youngster, but I always had the overwhelming urge to mess with stuff, any stuff. Taking apart my fathers power tools, and sometimes being able to put them back together was probably one of my favorite pastimes, thought my father wasn't very keen on it. I was generally consider "above average" in school always having a high aptitude toward science and math.

My family got our first personal computer in the summer of 1989. An IBM compatible 286 16mhz with 1MB of ram and a 40MB hard drive. It was a screamer for its day. I was hooked. But like my dad's power tools, I decided I needed to figure out how this thing worked as well. My mother was not very pleased with me when it didn't work quite right after it was reassembled. But hey, you gotta break it to fix it.

We moved back to Athens, GA in 1991 where I finished middle school and then went on to graduate from Cedar Shoals High School class of '96. Still the consummate geek in high school, I challenged my mind as an athletic trainer, and as a member of the Academic Decathlon team. But still the perpetual tinkerer, I would say that Autoshop and Technology were my favorite classes.

After graduating I first decided to attempt to pursue a career in sports medicine. I did enjoy the field and was quite good at it. After 2 years in the Sports Medicine program at Valdosta State University, they decided that a 3.8 GPA wasn't high enough to gain entry into the upper level classes. At that point rather than trying to increase my gpa, I decided to change fields. Computers was where it was for me. After all, I could tinker and play and get paid to do it. I win.

After 1 year in the CS program I was hired as a computer lab assistant for the Math/CS department of VSU and less than a year later hired by the Infotech Dept. Apparently I was good enough for someone to take note, because after a year and a half as a student assistant I was given a coop position that lead straight into a full time staff position. How cool was this, I was hired before I ever graduated. Although at the time this was quite the appealing offer it possible wasn't the best career move I could have made. After being hired and having to work a full time schedule, my studies lapsed, so much so that after 10 years, all I had to show was an Associates Degree. But fret not, I will prevail. I am still planning on completeing my BS and possibly persuing an education in the culinary arts.

So on it goes. As it would happen the Model Geek has now found a wife. Yep you heard right. She rawks. But you find out more about her at www.moosefoot.com. We also have two dogs, Hemi and Cuda, and three fish, Argyll, Lochland, and MacBeth.

So where am I at in my life. I am currently seeking gainful employment in the information technology arena, hoping to one day continue my education in both computer science and/or the culinary arts, and am an aspiring bagpiper. If you would like to know more, please feel free to email or instant message me.
